Children start building the foundations of reading during their early years at school. After one year at school children need to be reading at Green to meet National Standards. Children start their reading program on Magenta then Red then Yellow then Blue then Green and the colours continue on. Watch this space... running records are being done this week!!!
Where do we learn the BEST???
The children are able to freely choose where they learn best and where they feel the most comfortable working. It is fantastic to see them loving our kneeling tables and standing tables. We had to cut the number names, numbers and ten frames and stick them together with their matching partners.
Space can have an impact on learning. It can bring people together; it can encourage exploration, collaboration, and discussion.
What is a modern learning environment? Modern learning environments support strengths-based teaching and can offer students and teachers flexibility, openness, and access to resources. Working in an open, flexible learning environment where inquiries are shared, interventions devised collaboratively, and reflections based on both self and peer observations, leads to a more robust, continuously improving community of practice. Creating a modern learning environment Modern learning environments are about giving students maximum flexibility in their learning. Consider how to create teaching and learning and the spaces that align with recent research about how students learn best. The most important first step when considering learning environments is to start with learning.
The children come in before the bell goes and take their name off the wall and place into their pocket. At the end of the day they take their name out and place back onto the wall. This is now done without any prompting from the teacher. AWESOME!!!! Room One you guys ROCK!
